4WD version is only available for 3000cc turbodiesel; RWD version is for 2700cc gas... =.="

availability to North America is less likely... unless Toyota wants a SUV that placed between RAV4 and 4Runner

I thought the Highlander was the SUV between the RAV4 and the 4Runner?

Ya, but I suppose the only real SUV (off-road fully capable) is the 4Runner. The HL and the RAV are both crossovers - no low range, are AWD not 4WD, etc. Plus, the FXCruiser is coming in NA by Toyota so it's unlikely this Fortuner will come.

I'd personally like something to slot in between the Highlander and RAV4... I guess the Fortuner seems to be the right size... but I wouldn't buy a truck with that kind of powertrain, I wouldn't need it to be 4WD, AWD is fine with me.

it's based on the international multi-purpose vehicle program... 140 countries will benefit from it... so my prediction: we may get this car... at least in different form i.e. a 4,000cc gas version in it

This is a body on frame design, shared by the Innova. Doubt these vehicles will be introduced in NA. I do think the Fortuner is a fabulous vehicle though.
