Jamesbe maybe you should realize that in the lower end of the auto business (say under $30K) people are getting great value for their dollar today. Don't take my word for it, educate yourself and read lots of auto reviews, the experts agree that you get more bang for your buck today than ever before due to ruthless competitiveness and too many manufacturers making way too many cars (global overcapacity is at 20%)

If all manufacturers hit their 2005 targets we would sell 2.4 million cars in North America. But sales will likely be closer to 1.7 million. That is what I call voodoo math...

I remember Mowgus shared the purchasing price for Accord EX-L on this forum. He said he paid pretty close to the dealer invoice price, with a couple of add-ons. Not sure what he means by pretty close. I suppose it should be less than $500. Any idea on that?

I just happen to have picked up an Accord EX-L and I paid about $800 over invoice.  From what the salesperson told me the LX model is actually the one that they have the most stock hanging around in and they are more willing to cut a better deal on those.

True dat. The DX is not a big seller at all so there won't be an excess of them around. If a dealer has 10 LX-Gs on the lot and only 2 DXs, which one do you think he will be more negotiable on? For the $1200 extra the LX-G gives you variable speed intermittent wipers, a security system, power, heated, body coloured mirrors, painted door handles, nicer looking wheel covers, courtesy lights in the roof liner, a sunglass holder, and a center armrest in the back seat with a pass through. Well worth the extra $$

That does sound like a pretty good upgrade for $1200.

the black door handles, black mirrors, and fugly wheel covers on the DX are all good reasons to fork over the $1200 alone..
