My GM Lemon
« on: May 17, 2005, 08:57:22 pm »
I purchased a new 2002 Buick Rendevous and have been having repeated problems with it not starting, service lights flashing, stalling, and completely not turning over at times. It has been in the shop about four times for the same problems. First they could not find the problem, then they changed parts, then they changed the entire computer system!! The day I picked it up after the computer system was changed, it stalled off and on on my way home and then completely died! I mean nothing!

I had to have it towed back to their shop.I feel this car is plagued with a computer virus and want my money back.

I have since started my personal website i also let GM know my ride was worth more at the bottom of lake superior

GMCAR Welcome to the Forum, If the Malibou was so bad why did you buy another GM Product. The Buick is a more upscale car but are you useing the same dealership for service. After 4 times I think I would be looking for another Dealer. Under warranty you can go to any GM Dealership you want. Having a website about another car really dosen't do much for you here as you are complaining about something else. I think you may be a hard person to please.

Think I'd try another dealer GM dealer. You're stuck with the Rendez for awhile so you might as well try to get the problem resolved. I have found in the past that a rational, logical approach to solving these kinds of issues is better than being antagonistic and vengeful. Just my opinion. Good luck.

I think another person came on here about their Buick Rendevous complaining and wanting their money back as well.  As for that, it'll be tough so like the others have said, try another dealer to get the problems resolved.

That's your web site? What's with the 6 year old story of an 8 year old Malibu on the first page? And you have to register to read about people bitching about their car? Why bother when anyone can do that right here without the hassle.

What will you call the next Website when the 1st problem appears with that car?  A website about an 8 year old car really dosen't do much at all for you. It is slightly misleading.

So where's YOUR website as that one is not yours !!! Is there a game going on here?

OTOH, your story is oft repeated these days and although GM is getting better (??), too many ppl feel as you do and it's another reason why GM is in serious financial difficulty these days.

Myself, I have not been in a GM showroom for over 10 years - there is nothing there of interest to me except the Corvette (and the Camaro before they axed it).

"do either of you happin to work for GM?"

Same old story. It's always easier to dish out criticism than it is to receive it.

Which "either of you" are you referring to?

We just said that website is not yours although you claim it is yours? Can you clarify that for us?

And, hell no, I don't work for GM and never did.

I doubt a Charger will be any better than a Malibu or Buick... Haven't you heard? The Charger isn't anything else than the problem-plaggued Intrepid under new clothes.

In your info it says that your vehicle is a "nissan", there is no mention of your rendez-vous. Did you get rid of it? Are things resolved now? Because if so, then we are all wasting our time.

And Barrie makes a good point. If you were unhappy with your malibu, why did you go an purchase another GM? It's a Fool my once, shame on you, fool my twice, shame on me type of thing.

And since there are only 2 dealers where you live....did you try the other one?

mygmsucks...your website doesn't have any reference to this Rendezvous unless it is under the thread section on Buick. I think the misconception is in that you stated that it is your website so your story should be front and centre. 4 problems aren't that big of a deal.  How long has your truck been down?  Did you contact GM customer service & CAMVAP?  The website is a bad idea if you wanted GM to buy it back.  I'm sure they would have, they might have offered you an Ext. Warranty in lieu of a buyback as well.  Regardless, sometimes cars have problems, sometimes they are lemons, but you do have recourse and until you have exhausted the buyback/repair potential I think you are causing yourself wayyyyy to much headache.  If after exhausting these channels you still don't get what you want, leave the website up and trade-in the Buick and never buy another GM again! If you are going to ask for a buyback, seek legal council, send a letter to CAMVAP and to GM Customer service/legal affairs department.  That's how the ball gets rolling...putting up the website and threating GM is how you end up in the bad books...and make the process even longer.

I'm willing to bet you have a damaged wiring harness that has an intermittent short. The wiring loom will have to be opened up and inspected from the computer through to the engine terminations. This could chew up many hours, but it should be under warranty. GM minivans and their derivatives seem to have had a problem with this.

Anyway good luck, electrical problems can be a bugger to find.

Snack, FYI the Charger isn’t related to the Intrepid in any way.

GMGuy I do not work for GM now but did for over 30 years. I can picture you in a dealership screaming about anything and everything. GM would work with you if you gave them a chance. You are spiteing yourself whether you realize it or not, have you really sat down and talked with them about this problem as they can be quite good about these things if given a chance.  They don't like unhappy customers anymore then you want to be one.

Considering only one poster has said anything remotely pro-GM, I wonder if such an off-the-mark statement is indicative of your attitude toward your car problems?

perhaps i should just remain quiet.

Maybe that would be a good idea, since several posters have commented about "your" website, which refers to various combinations of vehicles other than what you are referring to, and anytime anyone has asked you about it, you don't answer the question.

Obviously, you are either full of crap, or hiding something.

And no, before you start, I don't work for GM; I've never owned a GM, although my best high school memories occurred in a Pontiac.

So tell us, do:  Whose web site is it?  Who are you?  Come clean before you fling around any more accusations, your credibility is showing.
