Where to find hwy 407 tape?
« on: May 14, 2005, 02:48:19 pm »
I want to stick, but not permanently, plastic lexan to glass. I realize that the special adhesive (by 3M; looks like clear velcro very sticky on one side) used to attach the transponder to the windshield is exactly what I want. I went out this morning and none of HDepot, Canadian Tire, Rona, Speedy Auto Glass had it :-(. Any ideas? I tried calling hwy 407; only automated on Saturday.

407 has/had kiosks  that have it.  One of them is/was at a shopping mall at Markham rd and 7 or somewhere along there

I went to their website and no mention of kiosks ...maybe they no longer exist

what about industrial strength white velcro  Home depot or Rona

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I bought some 3M 2-sided tapes / stick from Walmart a while back, maybe they have it?

I had gone to the license office on Saturday and 'they' said they no longer supply replacement 3m tape for the transponder. They said call 407 :-(

Okay then your next best bet would be to the mall at McCowan and Highway 7 - can't remember the name of it but that's where I went to turn in my transponder when it died.

I got through to 407 and they will mail me some. I went to the 3M website and found the product in question _Dual Lock_ http://tinyurl.com/c8ebr

It is supposedly available at Staples/Office Depot.
