A reliable muffler shop in Montreal
« on: May 13, 2005, 10:43:51 am »
Hi!
I'm a new member and I need your help. Last weekend at a track day, my exhaust fell right off; from right behind the cat, I was dragging it behind me, held only by the rubber bands.
Now I need a shop who can mold a custom exhaust system (2 in, 2 out) because I want to put a Magnaflow muffler (and maybe get rid of the cat all together).
My car is a BMW e28 535is.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

Where do you live in Montreal? Can you get to the west island? On Gouin boul. in between Sources and the 13 there is a Monsieur Muffler, they can do anything and they have always been great to me and my wife. Very fair. Ask for Junior or his dad. Knowledgeable and honest and both nice guys.
Sometimes, the problem with your car is in between the steering wheel and the seat.

Mr Muffler and Midas only give lifetime warranty on mufflers. Everything else in the system is a year to 18 months. Only once you put their stuff on you will be in a never ending cycle of replacing the decomposing parts they put on. The muffler warranty is what keeps dragging you back and they will get you for everything else. Got work done on my mom's car at midas a few years ago and have been back so many times I feel like I should be adopted. If you are going to hold on to car I would go somewhere else.

I have a 1997 Acura with original system. When it come time to replace I may go for original parts as they last years and years instead of months.

I have saved an ad for a shop in St-Laurent that stated they warranty the "complete" system for as long as you own the car. Never been, but kept the ad. They might be worth checking out.

They are Countach 5 Star Muffler, 2765 Deminiac St-Laurent. Tel 514-333-9123.
Living my BMW dream.

If you have the bucks, go with an all stainless steel catback exhaust system. But keep the cat for the emissions control. A Magnaflow muffler is a good brand.

Bimmergirl welcome to the Forum. As mentioned I would also go with a stainless Exhaust system which you will never replace. It will cost a little more but pay you back over the years to come. They can make a custom stainless exhaust up for you which will serve all of your purposes whether its Raceing or street driving. Call around for quotes as the money savings is better in your pocket then theirs.
