Tires down to wear bars.

In the old days there used to be 2 speed ratings - S and H.

Then someone invented a car that could run faster than 130 mph, so they invented V.  When that wasn't enough they added Z, except that Z was greater than V, but open ended, and size dependent so that a given vehicle could only get Z rated tires.

As time went on, they realized that they needed more speed ratings, so they used the alphabet, except they couldn't undo where the "H" was.  Plus they had more vehicles that were faster than V, but didn't need the "Z" (open ended) rating.  So technically a "W" or a "Y" could have a "Z" in the size, but most every tire manufacturer wants to put an upper limit in place and not imply more speed capability than the tire really has.

Hope this helps.

It is a bit confusing. As Capriracer has said...although it does not say the tires are Z-rated in the size the W-rating is good up to 270km/h. The Z-rating is open-ended at 260km/h and above. So the W-rating falls within the Z-speed rating and will have an adequate performance level. Hope this adds soemthing.

Morty, thanks for you comments.  I am now able to drive the car and not worry whether I need to drive within the speed limit from now on :-)

The tires are a lot quieter then the Continentals I had on before, as well they give a bit softer ride.  I quite like them, especially since Morty has calmed my concerns.  Thanks again.
