X; OK the car is not from a Chrysler dealer so the factory extended warranty included is out.

are the Jeep GC bad on gas?

Well it is a V8 in a 4x4, high sitting SUV, so you should have settled the fuel cost issue with yourself before looking at anything in this category.

I really don't like the option that the 4x4 is always on.

That is the feature that makes this vehicle superior in it's class.  Nothing on the market is as good.  Your system in your Explorer was crud.  You just didn't know it.

I have driven these later GC and the true AWD system is what make the drivetrains on these vehicles so superior and actually much safer than anything else in it's class for 2003.

The question is:  Do you really need something like this.  Do you tow?  Do you drive often on unplowed roads at 80kph?  Do you tour swamps much?

Now i notice Multivisao you have a Cherokee as well?  Now, how good on gas is it? Do you fill up every week, about how much?

Also with the 4x4 stick, what does it mean to put it in neutral? what will that do for the truck?
thanks

Thats it Xle...i had a 01 GC Limited and changed it for a 05 in the end of last year....

My previous one wasnt that bad, considering the amount of torque and power the engine delivers...i was getting 14L/100Km HWY and 17L/100Km CITY...sure taking easy with the gas :P

My Hemi-powered makes better than that...but then its not the case in here....

In doubt about the best-in-class 4WD system? check this out:

The price you're about to offer seems fair to me...try to get it down to 26-28k and tell the dealer 31K was the invoice for this model (if aint mistaken)....

Another pkg u should look at is the SE, see below:

I would highly recommend choosing a V8 over the I6 in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.  The I6 is ancient technology and uses about the same amount of gas as the V8 while being a lot less powerful.
