Ohh if I could only fit into a Crossfire
« on: April 23, 2005, 02:09:07 am »
Just saw a brand new 2004 6spd Black Crossfire advertised for $31,999 cash price, and I've seen a 2004 15,000km, 6spd for $28,999!

If I could fit into one I would SERIOUSLY consider buying one.  They were originally $48,000 MSRP.
2005 Acura RSX Type-S
2002 Acura 1.7 EL Premium
1993 Acura NSX

I'd get a used S2000 over a newer Crossfire or even a brand new Crossfire.

Yea, here in BC, for $28,999 you can basically only get a 2000 S2000 with some mileage on it.  By the time the Crossfire is 5 years old with more mileage it will be $15,000.

What am I trying to say,  a brand new S2000 is a little more than $31,999 cash price.

But I can't fit into either, so, lol.

True...but a used S2K is still a better car than a brand new Crossfire.  Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's good.  A good S2K in Ontairo can be shipped on a flatbed or train for about $1000.

The Crossfire has never appealed to me - basically a previous generation SLK.  It's looks are subjective, but almost everyone would agree that the fake plastic side slits are shameful.

Maybe that's why people are trying to sell them so badly?

I've only seen 2 Crossfire's on the road.  One couple and one convertible.  Both ugly.

There is a local Crossfire lowered on some NICE rims, and it doesn't look all too bad.  The stock rims do nothing for the car.  Very small too... I don't understand how anyone over 5'10'' can comfortably drive one.

- I've seen 3 one the road, lol.  Pretty weak display ;)

The convertible is alright but the coupe is just plain ugly with the rear.

I'd have to ask DC for the camouflage that they used to cover up that rotund bum as swell as that box like brick of a face it has....only then would I consider driving one.  The previous SLK powertrain/engine wasn't all that great so really this Crossfire is a mediocre effort at best.

Atleast there's 5 in Canada...3 in Vic and 2 in Cowtown.

I hear that it has gotten some very poor reviews as well. I've only seen one coupe to date. No wonder they are giving them away.

Fair enough, they're not the meanest and fastest machines out there... BUT they are a small, RWD sporty coupe with distinctive styling (and remember, styling IS subjective -- Prince Charles probably actually thinks his new horsie is hot!).  I saw a white one yesterday and coming at me, it looked pretty aggressive.

At $31k for a brand new one, they come in cheaper than an RSX-S by a couple of grand and offer more "image" than the Acura.

$31,000 doesn't get much else these days in the sporty coupe market -- especially something that will stand out, has a V6 and German guts.  The slushbox one I drove last summer was no magic carpet ride, but I bet the 5 speed isn't completely horrible to drive.

For $31k, I'd consider one.  It sure makes the previous generation SLK seem like a horrible value, doesn't it?

If I could afford a toy, I wouldn't turn up my nose at a Crossfire. At the price it's competing with sport compacts, not full-bore sports roadsters like the S2000. Hmmm, a fully warranteed brand-new Crossfire, or a five-year-old Honda with probably 100K on its extremely high-revving, hard-working small engine. Of course, I probably couldn't fit my butt into either of them either.

There's a lot of S2K's in Western Canada with low KM's for a reasonable price.  Imagine what they are in Ontairo.  Crossfire...not in the crosshairs for me.  I will give it one thing, they are unique.

$31k for a standard 215-horsepower 3.2-litre V6 powered roadster is a fantastic deal. The donor platform Mercedes-Benz SLK is proven. How anybody can not put it one the list if considering an inexpensive roadster. The battle for low priced domestic roadsters is heating up with the launch of the Sky and Solstice…..let’s not forget about the new Miata soon…..Open air motoring for the masses.
