I see the Reggin has re-surfaced to troll again. I am waiting for your rebuttal from my post answering to your personal attack on me…..what’s the matter?  Did you think I would forget?

Take some advice Reggin....STFU or leave. This is not a forum where we take kindly to personal attacks on our membership

Maybe he should consult a thesaraus to try and find different words to express his thoughts?

Bullit, as much as I love the 240 Series, it certainly wasn't a "driver's car."  Handles like a brick on wheels.  My Dad had one that I drove often...

I drove a 240 once....if I recall correctly, it took 8 city blocks to get up to the posted city limit of 60kph.

Then you can opt for the turbo version!

I DO own a 240 and yes, handling wasn't its greatest strength, but we're talking about a "simple drivers car". So one has to assume that the driver driving the simple drivers car isn't too concerned about horsepower, looks, handling etc....he/she is probably more concerned with keeping it simple....hence the 240.

I've seen a black 240 in Edmonton...and I swear it had a V8 plugged into it....the darn thing ate up a Corvette off the line.

There's a bit of a cult around dropping small block V8s into 240s...

And why not?  It's got the room.

Then you'd have the reliability and lack of handling of a similar-vintage GM product!  :-)

How about a focus 5 dr w/ a V-8 rear drive conversion? Ford sells 5.0L Rear drive conversion kits complete w/o the drivetrain.
Sometimes, the problem with your car is in between the steering wheel and the seat.

Riggin the 70's Malibou's and Buick Regals were rear wheel drive. They were nice driving cars. So who's the FOOL now? We have a few of the old 240's in London with the Big Blocks even. One of them has a 502 with twin 4's on it. Go like stink.

Suppose someone tried to do a Ssangyong with a 240 .. think it would sell?

Basically, set up a car company through licencing that obsolete RWD Volvo brick. Late model ones had a driver's airbag, and, I believe, passenger airbags.

And suppose you could sell that for under $20000 ... think there'd be a market for that?

Well, I don't see many makes investing in a RWD platform for the <$25K market.  BUT, the Mazda3 platform might be able to have AWD, which is better than FWD.

Maybe a Mazda3 with AWD for under $25K?

Mazda does have the Miata chassis, I wonder if they could adapt it to other forms?

Heck the Matrix has driveshafts in the back.  What about dropping the front shafts, adding some real power that has some torque?  I know it's not three boxes, but it would be fun and practical.

Of course, the 1999-2000 C230 Kompressor makes 190hp, is RWD, has four doors, a real trunk and sells used for under $20K.  You get four airbags, ESP, ABS, four wheel discs, and tons of other stuff.
No place I'd rather be...

It would be nice if  Honda/Acura could use their RWD platform for the S2K and put that into some of it's sedans or something. But that isn't likely to happen.

Old topic I know, but Toyota should take the platform of the outgoing IS and offer a Toyota or Scion badged bargin-priced RWD Corolla-sized sports sedan + wagon.

Magna (the car parts maker ) is trying to get one of the Big3 to co-produce a sporty/practical/simplified car fer $15,000..with no fancy electronics they say.
Can't find the linky just now but Globe & Mail rings a bell.
