What options were on the car? Dealers do have better margins on optional equipment.

I have managed to get rid of my 2004 F150 so now I am ready to get my Mustang GT.  The one they have here in my town is fully loaded for 38K.  Unfortunately right now there interest rates on new vehicles are still high around 6% thru Ford Credit.  Do you think they can move on that?  After I try to get them down a 1000 or 2.

Usually interest rates are non-negotiable; but some cos allow a reduction in rates if you are leasing and put up a larger security deposit. If you're buying tho, I think you're stuck with the rate. You could ask but be prepared for "no".

It just seems weird that they could give me 1.9% on my truck but hike it for the less expensive mustang....

It's real simple, Mogruk, the trucks are not selling as well as the Stang. Incentives are there to move models that are slower selling, no other reason. GTs are moving off dealer's lots quite smartly in most places, why should Ford discount the rate when they are selling more than they can produce right now?? Simple economics.

So they offered me a totally maxed out GT except for no red leather just normal for 35300.  Which is 3500 below sticker price.  I am still going to work them down a bit more but it is definitely looking good.

I was going to say that seemed pretty high ($38,800 MSRP) for a GT; but then I went to the Ford site and priced a GT with ALL options I could find and added racing stripes and got it to MSRP at $40,390 or so. Has Ford quietly raised the GT prices as I thought it was a bit less than that. Incidently, that $40k price included the $2000 for the Shaker 1000 which I think is a colossal waste of money.

Ford is only allotting dealers a limited number of the new Mustangs. If it's a big dealership, they get a few more. Ford also has a habit of saying to the dealers," You want three Mustangs? Well, then you have to take 2 Freestars and a couple of Taurus."(or whatever they have in their surplus/slow sales category).

Why aren't the new 'Stangs selling so well in Ontario? Blame the insurance companies. Example: I have a clean driving record going back many years. For a 6 cylinder Mustang, my rate would go up an additional $ 760. For a GT, it would go up $ 1210!
I've heard of one guy who was ready to plunk down MSRP on a new GT only to find out his insurer wanted almost $ 6000 annually to cover him.

Call me an old fart if you will, but I can't understand the mentality of someone who spends an extra $2,000 and gives up 1/3 of the already small trunk space for a Shaker 1000 system just so they can annoy people. From what I've heard, the standard Shaker 500 has lots of sound already. But what do I know?

Considering I was going to fiberglass in some subs anyways which would of made the trunk disappear.  If  I wanted trunk space I would buy an SUV...;)

I'm usually a peaceful guy, but everytime I hear the 'boom, boom, boom' coming from a stereo (disguised as a car) I feel like doing some 'boom, booming' of my own...with a shotgun

Is it possible to get financing thru another company IE Toyota for your Ford vehicle....I think they would since they would get the money for the interest?  (I know you can go thru banks obviously but I am curious about the financing companies)

I was offered my usual manufactures discount on the MSRP so there is not alot of room to move on the prices .....yet.
