2005 Mustang GT Pricing?
« on: April 11, 2005, 02:04:26 pm »
They seem to be selling awfully quick with the local dealerships never having more then a couple at a time.  Does anyone know the dealer invoice price....and what prices have people been paying for there GT....?

You'll be paying MSRP.  New car, limited supply, high demand.

Forget about invoice price - if you want a GT now or in the foreseeable future, you will pay MSRP. Lucky in Canada, the selling over MSRP is not common (as it is in the US, although I don't why anyone would pay over MSRP just for the bragging rights of getting one sooner).

when will people learn the supply/demand rule...

i think most people are aware that the new 'stang is a smash hit for ford ... (they needed it)

it will be a rude awakening for people used to buying domestic with heavily incentivized interest rates, rebates, discounts, or a combination of all 3...

I can't understand this.  Every Ford dealership I drive by seems to have a mitt-full of Mustangs -- both GTs and Secretary Specials.  Why the wait?  Why no deals?  I understand it's new, but they don't seem to be flying off the showroom floors as fast as everyone says... unless they're constantly replenishing their supply?

Just imagine the deal you will be able to work out in late 2006 or summer of 2007. If I buyout Rut Ro to keep for may daily driver I could pick on a nice convert in the summer of 2007….or maybe a MACH 1 version.

No matter how you cut it….$36k is a excellent price for a RWD 300 hp coupe.

Thanks for all the great advice....it was what I was figuring to have to pay the MSRP...I was just hoping for some better news..haha.  Do you think interest rates for Ford will come down anytime soon?  Right now they are sitting around 6.5 or higher in Alberta at least where I have looked.

There's tonnes near here too Jeff. I know they're selling well, but wouldn't know it by how many are on the lots.

Same here.  Ford Dealer in Owen Sound and one 30kms away have both GTs and regular Stangs sitting on the lot since they were announced.  Seen none on the road.

Obviously, US market is different.  Retired folks with cash not interested in these cars at least in my neck of the woods.  People who would be potential buyers are still dependant on jobs with maybe one eye on slowing ecomomy and uncertain gas prices.

Seems to be a turnover of the GTs here at the 2 Ford dealers. I drive thru their lots about once every 10 days and they both have a few but they don't seem to be the same ones (obviously sometimes there are some the same, but usually there is turnover). One Torch Red GT coupe has been on one dealer's lot about a month now, but it has black stripes applied which maybe is a problem (?). A number are sold for order so don't sit long once they are in. Spring season should kich things up a notch.

There have been a few on the roads that I've seen....the dealers have a few on them but not lined up like some of the other dealers others have mentioned.

I LOVE that some have stripes, some don't. The colour selection and V6/8 assortment and such is fantastic. Even I'm drawn to the damn things!

I read to-day that they are bringing out in the next few years a Shelby model and A new Bullit version as well as the Mach 1 Version in the next 2-3 years. The 5.4 is finally going to be used with a supercharger. Around 450HP rough estimate on some of them. A 390HP version will be along as well. This is from the May05 Copy of Motor Trend.

Heard same thing but I think in this case Motor Trend has their head up their butt (again) as it is highly unlikely that another Bullitt will be done. Too many problems with McQueen estate and licencing fees, etc. It is likely to see another Mach1 and possibly a Boss. Just not a Bullitt. That's the latest off Bullitt owner's website which discussed the MT article in detail. FWIW.

Friend just bought one, got 2300 off the MSRP for a GT coupe. But then changed his mind and ended up getting a convertible for $2000 off msrp.

You just need to go at the right time and know how to deal. :-) He picks it up tomorrow ! woooo!
