I propose a Topic entitled "Automotive care"(not a thread).  We can talk oil, maintenance, wax, cleaners, lubricants, miracle products etc.  What do you think Grant?

I second that.  These questions always come up in spring, and continue until the fall.

Huh….I spent 90 minutes on a “quickie” detail this morning before going out for lunch. No time for a proper wash, wax, and buff yet……maybe next weekend….Off to the fist BBQ party of the season in an hour…the Stella will be pouring…all on a Major Mining Software companies expense account….sweet sweet Stella…Oh yeah…steak toooooo.

I’m not going to bore everybody again with my summer car washing rituals.

Okay here is something for the 0 to 150 crowd in the first five minutes of ownership. The was is last month's C & D on the Evo and break in periods.

For the first 600 miles, we treated the Evo like a cute baby lamb. That's because Mitsubishi tells us the break-in is a crucial time in an Evo's life. If you're kind for those first miles, you will be rewarded with quicker acceleration, and it will never burn oil, Mitsubishi claims.

Less than a month later, we tested the Evo, and our self-control was repaid with a 0-to-60 time of 5.0 seconds. Forty-thousand miles later, the repeat performance took 5.1 seconds. Also, we never had to add a quart of oil over all those miles. We've heard from owners who couldn't keep from cranking the tach to the far right as they pulled out of the showroom lot and now must add quarts of oil regularly.

Well maybe there is something to be said for the go slow and give things a chance to 'wear in' afterall.

On your mark - get set (flame suit on)

Perhaps it’s got something to do with the fact that Mitsubishi make poor drivelines…amongst other things. I have run Rut Ro hard since day one and at 80,000 k and modded up to 350hp still runs fine.
