Base Mazda3 2.0L is the best of all of them.

The 2.3L's really deteriorate from that.

People don't buy the Mazda's for fuel economy. You're getting worse mileage than a good V6.

I think Volvo V50 is the best choice for you...the price tab is a bit higher than what u want to pay for the car but its worth it!!!

Since I already drive a Mazda I know about their fuel economy stories.  I have to say that I've been lucky and able to manage EPA or slightly worse with the odd better tank thrown in.  I think the Mazda 2.3L is rated at 6.7 l/100 in the Mz3 which is rated better than my P5 at 7.3 l/100.  What it gets in real world is and can be different of course.  Plus if you like to drive with the loud pedal and drive at 120+ what should you expect. The Honda SIR is rated at 7.0 l/100 which is the same class?.
But the Mz3 is too small for us as its the same size (basically) of what we have already.  Besides, I like the P5 better as it has more go cart like handling.

I looked up the EPA for the Volvo.  All number for the auto trans.
2.4i = 7.3 hwy
T5 = 7.3 hwy
T5 AWD = 8.3 hwy
Why not just get the T5 besides the 5G difference?

I've seen some Volvo dealer recomendations here but can't find them.  Anybody care to re-recomend?  We might be able to find some time on Saturday to go there.

Also, I found a 2004 Mazda 6-Wagon (GS) loaded with only 60kms (as in only 60) in TO.  0% interest and some discounts.  Sure adds to the confusion.

A subwoofer should only be noticed once it has been turned off.

if u need the extra power and can afford that price tag...then its ok...

anyway i would still stick to the 2.4i with Premium Pkg (to add TC and ESP) + Climate Pkg...and with a bit of negotiation and discussion u could lower 1000$ to 2000$ off MSRP...and thats it...

do u intend to lease or finance?
