New car for me?

I suppose... but Volvo's effort just seemed to be so half-assed.  If you're going to fabricate a false apology at least attempt to make it sound sincere.  There's no suggestion of how the problem can or will be rectified.  Poor ol' MDX is just left danglin'.  (those shorts don't give much support either).

"It almost seems like you were looking for a fight when they started asking questions"

Did you assume I was pissing around the front door for 1/2 hour before stepping into the dealership EAX?  Do you not think that is exactly what I did?  I walked in, asked if any manual tranny V70R's were in stock....they said no...asked about the auto V70R out front...and got the runaround and all that other bullsh*t.  It's not like I was asking about the V50, S60, XC90, then said "Hey....what's that jazzy looking black shiny wagon out front?  It looks fast...can we go for a test run?"  I've got better things to do with my time than to walk around aimlessly at a dealership pissing into the wind.

If asking specifically for one make and model states that I'm looking for a fight....then they can blow me.

Jeff, Volvo Canada really isn't doing too much and I am probably wasting my time with them as well as trying to contact the dealer principal, but alteast I got my message across here, and on other forums to ensure that this sort of incident is not appreciated.

wow, now your getting agitated with me?  I didn't assume anything besides what you said.  The questions he asked you were basic qualifying questions...nothing more.  I'm pointing out the obvious...if the salesperson could read your frustration or you were unintentionally rude with him perhaps he just put his guard up...As for the comment about not putting miles on it, another attempt to see how serious you were...instead of sticking around...you left...hmmmm...how does that look?  I know you said you were mad but I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this...Salespeople hate wasting their time b/c while they are out with a joyrider, a real customer could have walked in...I'm not saying that you are not genuinely interested in the V70R but perhaps you came off as a joyride customer...and the salesperson had someone else coming in.  Why don't you just call and schedule an appointment with another salesperson?  Mountain out of a mole hill...I'm the only one in the thread who played devil's advocate on this one...and I get basted by you for it...I don't think its a big deal, i think you over-reacted and I bet if you went back everything would be fine...

MDX, don't be fooled by the typical response letter. Remember Volvo is a very small company and peoples feedback/complaints are noticed.

As you posted *I got my message across*,and thats the point.

I get annoyed when I am accused/blamed for rude behaviour directed towards me.  From what you say, my actions is what caused and justified this whole thing to get blown out of hand right?

I'm probably not going to waste any more time on this matter with anybody from the dealer and/or Volvo Canada.  I talked to the wife and she says she'll drive the MDX (I was going to get the V70R for me as the family mobile and a toot around towner for her)....so now I can get a toot around towner for me....as for Volvo....I'll spend my money where it's deserved and appreciated.

Not sure yet.  I've always wanted an S2000, I also thought about a Miata (that'll be a project car), I like the G35 coupe, Mazda RX8....I'm back to square one and I got to get pointed in the right direction now.  Too many choices.  Head is spinning right now with fun ideas.

As for the Porsches....I'll buy used so I'll never have some salesperson shatter that dream.  :-)

MDX, I found myself test driving a V70R today and I had a very different experience from the one you had, so it may just be that particular dealership. Send me an email if you want some details.

MDX, you sound like a little kid having a temper tantrum. Exactly what makes you think it is OK to name an individual and disparage his reputation based on your one side of the story? He wouldn't let you drive his car? Well boo hoo.

How about posting your full name so anybody reading this thread can have the opportunity to avoid you in future business dealings.

Sterling,

The reasoning for naming the individuals I dealt with is simply to avoid harming anybody who was not part of this incident but may be affiliated with the dealer as a salesperson and/or is a new sales manager at the dealership.  I do not want to be generic in describing this matter so that others who may provide quality service at Anglo Canadian Motors is adversely affected.  That is not my intent.  I am telling my side of the story of what happened to me.    I prefer to be a little more precise in my details rather than being vague and affecting a broader circle of people who may not be involved.

As for naming myself, if I provide poor service to anybody I deal with in the business world, would I expect them to complain to others using my name directly?  Of course I would.  The key is to be specific.  However, I don’t conduct business in this manner and nobody who I have ever dealt with has complained to me or anybody else that I know of.  Besides, my business dealings and my business affairs do not play into this transaction and needless information such as my identity does not gain a purpose other than to satisfy your curiosity.

That's BS. You could've just identified him by his title.

We have only heard your side of the story. I don't know you personally. I cannot accept only your version of events as being accurate. For all I know, the gentleman you named could offer a different version of the events which would paint you in an unfavourable light. However, you seem to think that you can harm this individual's reputation and perhaps his livelihood with impunity, hiding behind an anonymous internet persona.

You guys are treading on dangerous ground if you think it's OK to slander anyone you don't like.

Their identities are so secretive:
http://www.anglocanadianmotors.com/contact.html

I don't expect everybody to believe my story...and frankly, I don't care if you do or not.  I want to share my story of poor customer service and you can take it anyway you like.

I fully believe you and give a 5 for your method of describing what happened at the dealership that day. I personally feel you have been very respectful of the other employees who were not involved in this matter. In my eyes your credibility is 10 times better then the dealerships.
