1991 camaro
« on: March 22, 2005, 09:59:45 pm »
I posted a few months back about the Camaro I bought December 11.  Im glad I replaced the pin in the door, but guess what I figured out.  The door doesnt close completely, because the window hits the rubber at the top of the door. If I lower the window by a quarter of an inch, then the door closes fully inside the door-jamb.  car still runs good; needs a tune-up, when I can spend the $200 on one. I weigh over 200 pounds.  I hope I dont wear out the seat.  minor inconvenience is my floor mat keeps sliding.   but Its a nice car for the money.  I like my camaro.  Wish I had money for a nice used corvette.  My 91 camaro is a typical camaro.  I feel every bump in the road.  are the corvettes the same? Let me ask a stupid question:  If you compare a V-8 camaro to a Corvette, does the Vette have a LOT more performance to it??

Generally yes it does a more powerful engine. Camaro's of your vintage mostly had the 305 V8 in them but some did receive the 350 with a few more ponies. The Vette engine is usally a different model with a stronger cam and more HP. They are also somehat lighter and have a different suspension and 4 whl disc brakes to help slow them down a little better as well. Check your window for side play as these are bolted thru the glass inside and they can loosen up over time. That allows the window to flop out a bit and not fit right. Removing your innerdoor panel will give you access very easily. Tighten them up a bit. It will realigne the glass.

Barrie, Are there sleeves/stoppers for the window glass bolts to prevent overtightening so as to avoid breaking the glass?

If you got a 350 in a 1991 Z Camero you got rear disc brakes standard.  245 HP

Yes they do have a plastic or nylon stop piece for each bolt so that it takes the stress and not directly on the glass.
