when i was in calgary.iwent to vancouver in about 11 to 12 hours.mind u this was in 1981.i didnt try to go fast, but i just keep going.when i went from calgary to pettawawa in 1981,it took 2 days to petawawa, ontario.took 6hrs to winnipeg, than had to stop over night west of wawa
because everything was closed after 11pm.
pay 60 dollars for hotel room or pull out sleeping bag and sleep by gas station.choice was
easy.gas station opened at 6am.
motored on to petawawa by lunch hour.
but this was in 1981,so your milage and fun factor may vary

There is no way you can get from Wawa to Petawawa in 6hours, you would have to AVERAGE 140km/h.  I guess it is possible but highly dangerous.

And there is NO WAY you can get from Calgary to Winnipeg in 6 hours.  That's AVERAGING 220km/h, what were you driving a fighter jet?  Certainly not your average 1981 automobile.

I'm thinking that Calgary-Winnipeg time was a typo.  It's more like 16 hours.  At least that's what it is between Edmonton and Winnipeg.  It'd be a bit shorter to Calgary, but not much.

Also I think the interstates in Montana have daytime speed limits of 75 mph now.  They "driver's discretion in daytime" thing is gone, IIRC.

I've been lurking, but the crack team of deprogrammers (or was that the team of crack programmers?...dealers?) advised me to maintain a safe distance from keyboards.  There's a risk I might suddenly be compelled to bite the heads of domesticated birds, loose all power of speach other than mysteriously repeating a countdown  over and over again, or drive a truckload of TSXs off a cliff in Korea.

Therapy continues...
