While taking a walk during lunch hour, saw that beauty on trailer, next to the underpass. (I zoomed the picture to the max here)

My late uncle had one in white w/red interior, with the 348 cui in, tri-carb version and a four speed.  Beautiful car.

Dad had one with the the same engine, but the 3 speed IIRC. It was a two door stripper ordered by some police force, but they then changed their mind, so the dealer was willing to blow it out for a relative deal. Black with dog dish wheels. Pretty sinister looking machine. Long gone before I arrived on the scene unfortunately.

Looked something like this, but black and without the bubblegum light and markings.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Porsche 991 Targa...

I don't know. It kind of ruins the lines of the 911, in my opinion. All that complexity just to have a wide sunroof, but that's the Germans for you. Maybe I need to see it up close...
I love it when a plan comes together.

Agreed!  Neither the targa, or the cabrio 911 appeal to me at all.  Although I prefer the look of the Corvette coupe the targa and cabrio versions of that car look fine imo.  The body shape of the 911 just looks a little weird when the lines are truncated, especially some versions of the cabrio.  The newer models seem a little better proportioned, but still a little off.

You know, I don't mind the cabrio so much (though like the M4 convertible, a bit of an abomination). But the Targa just looks like someone tacked on the back end of a 74 911 targa roof to a 991. Actually that's exactly what they did.

I have three mildly interesting stories from today's drive in...

  • An unmarked police cruiser behind me, made an illegal left-hand turn from McCarthy to Walkley, then broke the 50 km/h speed limit by at least 15 km/h along a stretch of road notorious for being a local speed trap.
  • A grasshopper popped up from somewhere in my interior -- maybe from under the seat -- onto my lap.  I gently picked him up and let him go free out the window.  I wonder how long he'd been trapped in there...?
  • A black kid riding his bicycle to school, wearing a watermelon-motif helmet.  What were his parents thinking? ???

Saw cars pulled over for speeding at almost every hwy construction zone I passed today.  Double the fine in construction zones... :o. At an accident scene where a tractor trailer was overturned in the ditch there was a cop standing pointing the radar gun at the beginning and a few cars already queued up for tickets at the end.  :popo:

on the way home last night, a big rig had rear ended a mazda (?)... no one was cleaning up bodies, so must have just done in the back of his car... seemed like the passing lane on the linc... makes you wonder how that happens...

my guess is that the guy saw the exit and hit the brakes... can't see a whole lot of other things that would cause it.
