2003 Ford Focux zx3 - death trap
« on: February 14, 2005, 12:48:43 am »
Just banging my head against the wall!

Never mind having replaced the ignition, the wire harness and having various other little problems, we have to have the transmission replaced on this car - AGAIN.  With less then 50k on it, this car has been nothing but trouble.

Two months ago - DH was driving on the highway, coming into the city and he couldn't get the car out of 5th gear.  We call the dealership, they can't get the car in for over a week and of course we won't get a loaner - because they don't have enough.  When they finally do take the car - they test drive it themselves, the transmission completely fails and they end up towing it back to their shop.

Four days ago - DH comes home and sz he's lost 5th gear again.  Right back on the phone to the dealership and same old story - they can't get the car in for over a week and they can't give us a loaner.  Even after DH reminds them that this problem was just fixed and expresses his concern about how dangerous it is - they just shrug it off.

There he was, 5:30 A.M. - off to work on a very busy street and presto - no transmission at all.  He has to push the car into a parking lot and walk the rest of the way to work.

Built for life in Alberta?  I don't think so.

Nikkir Welcome to the Forum, sorry to hear of your problems. To me it sounds like a new dealer might be in order as well. They could not have fixed it correctly the 1st time as this should not go again in such a short time. Is there any warranty left on this vehicle? There had not better be any cost on this 2nd repair as they need to replace the tranny again from the sounds of it.

Well Safristi - sorry that you think I'm being melodramatic but you try having your transmission completely fail twice and then see how you feel.  Would you want to drive this car?

Barrie1 - the repair should be under warranty - we're still waiting to hear from the dealership.  (first they couldn't find the car on their lot - then it turns out the tow truck driver forgot to leave the keys - sigh :-) )

We have a lemon law support her in Ontario called OMVIC or something similar. In Alberta there must be something as well?

For that matter I would call that Klein guy and tell him to chase Ford.

I don't think that Klein guy likes me very much - 1 too many letters to the editor calling him a "redneck" might be the problem

You called him a redneck?  That's the problem.  I think "drunken lout" is the correct term, isn't it?

Glad to hear its going to be warranty as that might hurt a bit other wise. I can understand your frustration with this vehicle at the moment. The other repairs might have been by the warranty book but the tranny should be done right ASAP. The dealer owe's you that courtesy at least.

Ya, but I'll trade our drunken loat for your drunken loat any day. If Gordo dares to lose this province to the damn NDP again, I'll emigrate to Alberta.

Why do people buy these cars?  Sorry to hear the bad news though.  Sell that lump and go buy a used civic or corolla.  I think RK quit the bottle.

Cheers

I believe that RK quit the bottle publically after he went into a homeless shelter at Christmas time 2003 and told them all to go get a job!  As for privately having a little snaps here and there - I don't know :-)

Na, Gordo's on "good behavior" mode now - election coming May 17 this year; but I'm sure his booking mug shot will reappear on some Union/NDP propoganda in the upcoming campaign. Fortunately, it only lasts about a month but the "posturing" has commenced already. The unions will spend a ton of bucks trying to get rid of him. If the NDPricks get in, it will be "firesale" for sure. BC is finally moving ahead again and an NDP victory would screw that up big time IMO. Sorry, guess this is off-topic which was what again....?

Yes let’s all hope the Commie Bastards stay out of power in BC. Open up all those billion dollar ore deposits to mining and generate revenue and high paying jobs…… Fack’n tree huggers.
