I drive a jetta 1.8t(2000) and my problem is that when im turning and acclerating into a turn my engine makes a clunk sound and the rpm's drop and it takes me forever to get into second gear.after second the car is normal. what could be wrong with my car?

Engine mount failing? Is the jetta a rod linkage or cable for the gearshift?

Well Brig, it's just a screen name. My view was that sometimes people are on the spot to think up a name, and that's what came to her. And even if she uses it all the time, however unclassy, no need to jump all over it. I COULD have been no big deal.

But in any case, the eMail response is less than acceptable.

Can we go back to figuring out the problem? I taught that this was the aim of this place! Common!?!

On that note, I agree with Tpl, sounds like an engine mount failing, resulting in misalignment of the engine ang tranny. Needs to be fix NOW if the case, otherwise the tranny is gone.
