Looking for suggestions.  Going to use steel wheels (215/65/16).  Live in NS where we have all weather conditions ... snow, slush, ice and bare pavement ... alternating at 2 day intervals Checking out Tiretrends looks like my options are Toyo GO-2 plus vs Pirelli Winter Carving in tires that are at least T rated and reasonable cost.  Any suggestions?

Both are very good tires. You can also consider looking at 225/60/16 as an alternate size. Same OD and about 10mm wider. May give you a few more options. Choices are running a little thin this time of year, but you still have some good tires to choose from.

I have the 04 Sienna CE which has the same tire size. I bought a set of T rated Kumho Kw-19 on steel rims. I paid $700 installed and balanced out the door in Toronto. They've been great in the wet and snow, and surprisingly quiet though a little squirrely on the highway at 120 kph.
Good luck finding something this late in the season.

Thanks Grasshopper (I feel like I should be in the crane position standing on a piling)

I'm buying the Sienna this week, but currently have a 01 Town & Country AWD ... and I've been running KW-11's.  I have been happy with them, though had the front two wear much faster than the rear and had to replace the front two after two seasons.  Decided for the Sienna to go with the Pirelli Winter Carving ... found them and take-offs in stock at Tiretrends ... I'll let you know how I find them.  Coulda' tried them today .... blizzard whiteout and up to 60cm today in NS!
Cheers

Nsdubber,

Does the AWD XLE come with Dunlop SP4000 tires?
Mine did and they're crap. They spin if someone spits on the road.

Not sure .... I'm taking delivery this Friday, but it's three provinces away.  I'm mentally prepared that if it does I'm going to be changing them pretty quickly in the spring.  I'm going to give up on the runflats and put on Michelin Hydroedge tires.  All the reviews and 1st hand reports I've heard/seen are awesome.

Nsdubber...we have received great reviews on the Hydroedge. If you decide to change the OEs let us know how they handle the weight of the hefty Sienna.

Hi Mort,

Just got the van home to NS from Ontario.  Drove OK on the Dunlops, but at 14k km they look like they're at least half gone.  On dry they are OK if a bit stiff ... on wet they're a bit squirrely and on slush ....don't get me started.  I have just received the Winter Carving's on steelies from you and will put those on for a couple of months.  After that I plan to go to the Hydroedge and will let you know how things go.

Looking forward to it. We love feedback good or bad. Glad to hear you made it back safe and sound on the Dunlops!

A few months ago (before snow) I rented a Sienna...the guy at the rental desk told me to beware the tires, he said they weren't very good.  He was right.  Those Dunlops were crap - you had to be careful on corners if there was any sand or gravel on the road - just like on a motorcycle.  I've never driven on tires that were so bad, except the Goodyears on my old Celebrity.  They were horrible.

I'm surprised Toyota would sully their reputation with such crappy tires.

I've been seeing more cruddy OE tires lately on cars  that carry an MSRP that should warrant decent tires.  Subaru keeps putting 1985-technology RE92's on most of their models.  Bridgestone makes some fantastic tires, why opt for those POS?  Mercedes used to put nothing but premium tires on all their cars, but lately they've been installing some really crappy Goodyear RSA's on many models.
No place I'd rather be...
