84 Toyota Land Cruiser rear disc brake conversion problems...
« on: January 01, 2005, 01:32:46 am »
Hi All,
I'm having real problems after rear disc swap.  I have no/or very little rear brakes.  And loose brake pads at resting position.  I've tried manually adjusting (85 eldorado) calipers without success.  I haven't changed original proportioning valve.  Do i have to do this??  I'm a brake rookie at this as you can probably tell.  Can i put on any 4 wheel disc (from any model) proportioning valve to solve my problem?   Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.
Roger

Roger Welcome to the Forum. The Eldorado Calipurs will be of a larger size then the stock ones and will probably need larger valves to get the same tension on them. Definitely make sure you have no Air in the lines as this will be a major problem for you in getting them to work correctly. I would suspect these rotors and calipurs are 13" to 15"s in size so make sure you use the proper valves for them.
