So I started with the ignition cylinder figuring it would be the lesser of two evils, and guess what I found under the bottom cover of the steering column. The old style manual release is now electrically operated. This is no surprise with all the electronic gadgets on cars today, but the kicker is that it can be manually actuated. Although there is still a problem with my car that needs to be fixed this will at least allow me to use my car while I figure out the actual problem.

Pancho have you tried any lubricant on the tumblers at all. I use a product called DPL for just these problems on all of the locks around my home and vehicles. Around $6.00 at a GM Dealer.
