Lug nuts rusting
« on: December 06, 2004, 11:31:11 am »
I've had my winter package from Tiretrends installed for about a month now (on 17" mag wheels) and I noticed that the lug nuts that were included in the package are starting to rust already...

Now I know they were a freebie but I'd like to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem.

Fred.

Not with TireTrends lug nuts, but some of the chrome plated lugs I got when I bought a set of summer wheels (locally) started rusting a little bit around the edges I noticed.  And this was even though I took the time to wax them and did the installation myself!

I'm just going to polish them up, re-wax them and see what how they fare, but I guess that's why quality lug nuts from companies like McGard and Gorilla are supposed to be better.

The rust is a good thing as it will help hold your wheels on, but may make it harder to remove them. :-) Everything rusts.

We normally use Gorilla nuts with our packages, but ran out at one point last month and had to use an intermediary supply. Perhaps you got a set of these. It really shows how damaging the winter elements can be. Take a picture of your lug nuts and email a copy to me mkoch@tiretrends.com I will let you know if it is something abnormal.

Cut the poor guy some slack, Saf.  He's working all hours, dealing with cranky procrastinators missing their GORILLAS.  It's bound to drive a guy NUTS. Mrs GOODALL will be waiting for him when he finds his way out of the MIST.
