Dunlop Graspic DS-1 Review (First 100 Km):
Vehicle: Ford Crown Victoria, V8 with ABS and Traction Control ... No Electronic Stability Program, ESP Yet, :-(
Weather/Temperature Conditions: High -4C and Low -13C (Partly Cloudy with Some Flurries).
Road Conditions: Hard Packed Snow and Ice, Frozen Slippery Roads, Less Than 100 km of Treadwear
Comments:
- increases winter driving confidence
- capable rear-wheel drivable vehicle for winter
- defintely more traction on cold, snowy, icy roads
- abs and traction control were engaged a few times (must be the new tires and heavy foot!)
- driving slow and carefully is always important
- melted snow which turned to hard ice --> experinced slippiness but nothing sudden or unexpected
- soft and relatively quite, some humming noises, mushy feel
- don't even try to compare with the goodyear eagle ls all season tires, which i have no confidence in winter
- although some uneasiness about tires on icy curved roads and intersections
- slush and snow were very acceptable, haven't tried deep snow though
- keeps the vehicle stable and fairly predictable during winter days
- great price and winter tire for the new and experienced drivers
- not to mention don't expect too much until tire breaks in
I'm not sure about the Dunlop Graspic DS-2 Winter Tires (guessing it's much improved from the first generation) but I hope this gives you some insight about the Graspics!
