That's right.  If you're slipping and sliding around an empty parking lot in an SUV with just a skiff of snow...imagine drifting around and you hit a patch of dry pavement.  I would not chance it.

It is actually easier to spin an AWD car than a FWD car.  I don't ever recall unintentionally spinning a FWD car.  A AWD/FWD car, however, will readily slide/spin if you give it too much juice from a stop or turning a corner.

What you said defies the laws of physics Asdf. And needless to say, it is plain incorrect.

Re: Smainville's comment

Very true.  Cocky or over confident?  Many of us have been passed by an SUV during poor weather only to find that same SUV in the ditch a few kms down the road.  People forget to slow down and allow extra time for braking, etc.

Have you put snow tires on your X-Trail?  Just curious.

A few cms of snow through the night here in the County of Northumberland.  It will all melt away by tomorrow.

Edit:  I can remember riding shotgun while my buddy and I did 'reverse donuts' in the grocery store parking lot at night with his parent's Ford Tempo.  Good times, good times.

Yes MrThompson I do have snows on, when things get a bit stupid on the 417 I exit and come into the city by the back roads. Slow but sure, I was watching this morning an Envoy and you get the impression the  guy is saying "get out of my f$$king way loser I'm invincible!" pass, pass, tailgate, pass again.

Fack…..first day out in the snow and I punch though a snow bank. I was having fun the long way home from the video store on some back roads. I lost it around a series of twisties. No damage….good thing it was not a big snow fall last night. Backed up and went home with no witnesses around.

Now we know why RutRo doesn't get to play in the winter....master doesn't have a grip on the leash.  :-)

Glad nothing major except a plugged up intercooler.

Lucky Snowy!

We're happy to hear there was no damage at all.  I blame those RE92s for what happened.

Once you have those V-rated Dunlop M3s installed, RutRo will be running on rails!

Yes…yes…that’s it. Stupid RE92’s. I was understeering around the last corner and used too much parking brake to try and get Rut Ro to slide and correct. I went around too far and lost it.

Just curious if anyone tried or has an opinion on those SnoClaws sold by Canadian Tire. I was thinkin whether I should get winter tires and go through this twice a year tire changing thing, when I ran into the SnoClaws... I live in Edmonton and we got snow last weekend, plus it got friggin cold here too.. Any opinions?
Thank you.

Snow has finally come to the valley bottoms here in the Okanagan. It's about zero and snowing now. Melting on roads but sticking on grass and roofs. Good thing I "exercised" the pony yesterday!!

You may have exercised the pony, but you haven't exorcised the demons.
