Winter Tires for 2001 Maxima
« on: November 29, 2004, 11:58:42 pm »
I'm shopping for Winter Tires for my Maxima (at present I have all-season (215/55R 16 on ) since I will be driving between Toronto and Waterloo for work.  The tires that have been recommended to me are the following:
Toyo Observe G-02 Plus
Michelin  X-ice
or Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50

They all seem to have their positive points but would anybody have any recommendations on these 3 types.  I will be purchasing new rims for what ever I purchase.

Tks

Wouldn't an H-rated winter tire be more advisable for the Maxima? T-rated? The X-ice and WS50 are both Q-rated. The G02 plus is T-rated (different size though).

For urban areas we normally recommend an H-rated winter tire. You will get very good winter performance, but also have better high-speed stability and wear. However, if you are an avid skier or in an area with snow and compact ice through the whole winter then the tires you have mentioned will be a better choice.

H-Rated options from the manufacturers you mentioned include:

Toyo Garit HT
Michelin Pilot Alpin 2
Bridgestone Blizzak LM22
