Toyo T1-R sizes?
« on: November 29, 2004, 02:41:37 pm »
Does anyone know which Toyo T1-R (T1-S replacement) sizes will be available here in Canada?

I've seen some pretty odd sizes listed as available in other countries already (like 225/40/14, 245/35/16 etc..) but would like to know which sizes will be available here.

Thanks!

This tire will be available in the first quarter of '05. They will have some odd sizes, but not everything that is offered in Europe. We should know shortly, which sizes will be available in Canada.

I do not know too much about these Toyo T1-S tires.  I assume these are performance tires.   Are they good?  If they are good, probably the T1-R is even better.

How do they compare to so common performance tires like Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, Potenza RE750, etc ?

T1-S's are superb.  Only complaint is the soft sidewall lending itself to poor turn-in / slalom.  On the flip side, amazing wet grip and ultra-lightweight.  Ahead of the RE750 for sure (head-to-head with the SO-3), haven't driven this Michelin.

I understand the nearly legendary T1-S has a pretty good ride too, which might be a result of the soft sidewalls.  They are still supposed to have lots of grip wet or dry though.  Very light weight too.  If I could have afforded them earlier this year I might have bought the T1-S or Falken 451.

Nice tires. The T1-R looks like it's trying to address the soft shoulders/sidewall complaint a bit. I'm on my second set of T1-S, great tires.

Put the 451's on my Bimmer (cheaped out vs the T1-S).  A very good tire, but not as sticky as the T1-S.  Definitely excellent bang for the buck though.

Thanks for the quick reply Morty!

Please keep us posted as you hear more about these tires. I'm particularly interested in how much they will weigh vs. the T1-S, which is already one of the lightest performance tires on the market.

Curious about the weight to.... I was hoping to see the tire at SEMA, but surprisingly Toyo did not have the tire there.
