So I went to another dealership on friday and finally, something was fixed!

The cracking noise around the radio has been fixed to 90%. It still cracks when the car hits big holes, but it no longer cracks when I'm accelerating or on minor cracks in the pavement. So that's good.

I also had a "clicking" noise coming from the rear right when turning, and I ended up finding out that the liner around the belt hook over the passenger's shoulder did that noise. The tech fixed it on the first try.

I still have the rear right passenger reading light that's vibrating from time to time. And there's also a lot of "TOC" noises coming from the rear somewhere in ceiling liner. It's worse when it's cold, but it's certainly there even when it's warm. I'll try to get that fixed eventually.

My winter tires were installed, Kumhos KW17 rated H. Most quiet winter tires I have ever experienced!!! You simply don't hear them! I can't wait for some snow to fall to try them out. Got a good price on them too, thanks TireTrends!

I also picked up diesel fuel conditionner at the dealership, and poured in my first bottle when filling up the tank. Now I'm confident I won't have any problems this winter!

Things are finally looking better with my car! About time!

Glad to hear that VW is fixing some of the creaks and groans...

I traded my Wolfsburg Ed. Jetta for a Golf TDI a couple of weeks ago.  So far so good.  Not too worried about the rattles - I understand VW enough to expect some and will deal with them in stride :-)  Rattle hunting is a bit of a sport, makes you happy when you tag a big one!

Geez were your cars made by unskilled overseas labourers in Germany while the locals had their 8 weeks holiday in the Algarve???...

sing along..."When the radio "cracks",
             "when the seat hurts,
             "When the coil-overs fry
             "When the whole car buzzes..
             "These are a few...

Shnak, your noise , rear of headliner. Do you have the radio antenna mounted top rear center on the TDI? Maybe the noise is from the antenna or the radio coax cable?

Ovr50 - you crack me up.

By the way, how are you feeling now?  That hole in your femoral area healing nicely?  Hair growing back?  Ouch!  Ouch!  Ouch!  Itches, doesn't it?

Thanks, Bridge & guys, but I didn't think it was THAT good.

Hole in my femoral area? Are you kidding? All holes in my femoral artery are all healed up now. No outstanding issues there. The neurosurgeon was an expert (of course) and did a great job. I am 100% I would say (tho some of you may think I've had a lobotomy by my recent posts). And, yes, it does itch a bit but, hey, a good scratch in private is good for the soul, doncha think?

Well, you know...

Just glad to have you back and all.

I love hijacking useless threads.  So!  How's Kelowna these days?  Can we stretch this one out a little bit longer?

I thought so.

And how's the wife and kids?  More importantly, has the Bullitt been packed away for winter?

Well then, what's your 's name (the one in the avatar, silly)?

Wifey is tired - teaches grade 3 full time. Kids is singular and is hardly a kid at 22 (well, sometimes). And most IMPORTANTLY, the dark green machine is all parked away with the big car cover in the 3rd slot of the garage. I'm going to see how long I can go before I tear the cover off to see the car again. Insured for storage until March 24, should be OK then for driving on selected days. Christmas in Kelowna, then Victoria. Spring Break in Oregon again.

And you??

Roadrunner, it might be that cable, but it seems to be coming from more than one spot. I'm pretty sure I'm hearing noises coming from the left side and the ride side of the headliner, probably close to the hatchback door.

Well I'm not a tech but I'm going to guess a couple of possibles. One: hatch not fitting tightly when closed and perhaps rubbing on the rubber seals. Maybe temporarily lubricate the seal to try and isolate the noise. Or two: dry hinges, again, lubricate.
No point getting too uptight about it as perserverence on your part will conquer the squeeks and rattles.
Keep at it. If it's man made it can be fixed.
Here's a quote from the 'Far Side'..."if it has or wheels it's gonna be trouble".
