December Auto Motor Sport published test of 11 winter tires in 205/55R 16H size. 1st place-Dunlop M3 and Pirelli Winter 210 Sotto Zero next was Conti TS810 and Michelin Pilot Alpin.These tires are highly recommended.

A little disappointed with the Hankook 300's wet rating (3.4, second last average 2.86) although it did well on ice (top rated).

Interesting in Europe, the Nokian WR is actually cheaper than the Hankook 300!  Last time I checked here in Canada, the WRs are quite a bit more expensive than the Hankook 300.

Interesting...thanks for the post. Overall I think the W300 did very well. Even with the lower wet weather ranking it still falls within the recommended. Even the WR didnt do as well as the Hankook.

Pricing is an interesting side note. I am a bit surprised it is less exensive, but a different market.

Those Continental WinterContacts are what I have on my RAV4. Seem great so far but have not been really tested yet. No snow here, just up on mountains.

Morty, you're right, the WR did not do as well as the W300.

Personally, my experience with the Nokians had been mixed, I was unhappy about my 5-6 years old NRWs failing go up a slight slope in deep snow, but then, perhaps the dried up tire condition is to be blamed.

Just put on the W300s, it started snowing here in Vancouver last night but didn't have time to drive up to higher elevation to try out the tires.

I seem to prefer the ride and wet performance of the W300 over the Pirelli P6.  Tires are actually quieter than the P6 too.

By the way, why is the W300 225-55-17 V rated and not H?  Not that I'm complaining, just curious.

Are all of these not more expensive tires? I mean, I'd hope to get a better tire if I spent that much more.
