144000 maintanence check
« on: November 19, 2004, 06:56:03 pm »
My car had a Water pump replaced at a previous maintanence check.  Now under this maintanence check we didn't say it had a new one (less than one year ago) and the guy says ours is leaking and we should have another.  It's a Honda dealership. Is that likely and or super problematic? Or can we wait?

is it the same dealer as the one that did the
waterpump? if it is,they should have a record
of the service done to the honda.
i would hope that there is at least some kind
of warranty for the replaced waterpump.

This is not normal and it must be fixed as soon as possible. You will not be able to go very far without the cooling system working correct. If its the same place that did the previous work then expect their pocket to pay the cost of this one.

If the car has a timing belt, the leaking water pump will wreck the belt.  You should probably replace it too.  Maybe.  Some cars, not.  If it's a Honda, probably.  If it's a new Honda, some have chains.  So no.  If it's really old, sell it.

If it's a V-8 Camaro, do it yourself for cheap, and stop going to the Honda dealer.

If it's a Toyota Corolla from 1998-, it's got a timing chain, so no worries on that end, but if the pump is leaking replace it.

If it's a pre 1998 Porsche 911, they're scamming you, as it has NO water pump.  Rube!

Hey!  Why would ANYONE take their Porsche to a Honda dealer? MORON!  To hell with it, I'm not helping anymore.  People with Porsches should learn to look after their own car and avoid Honda dealers.
No place I'd rather be...
