What's wrong with 160k on a Subie, that's peanuts.  Chances are it's highway miles, your taking a chance with any used car really.

No history on my Subie with 200k she's going fine.

200K and 11 years is average driving.  When you purchase a 3 year old car, you don't expect wear and tear of 160K.

I see new Cavaliers and Sunfires in the London paper to-day for $12.999. These are brand new cars with full waranty. Figure out the tax's and I am sure she will be just under the wire for it all.

Well, she bought a car last night!  Her 86 Honda is barely running, and she needed something new(er).  We went to look at that Forester again, and there was no way to go below $16K on it.  But, she did find a nice "Mica" 2001 Protege LX with AT/AC (must haves) and power "group" with only 43,000kms on it.  She wrangled it for $12K flat, not a bad price.

It will suit her well.  She's an elementary school teacher, so does not use her car for work.  She's got a limited insurance and gas budget, so the Protege fits the bill.  She came in $3K under budget, which is a bonus.  The car is under warranty, so that will keep surprise repairs to a minimum for the first while, anyway.
No place I'd rather be...

Good for her! I'm sure she could've find a similar 2002 or maybe even 2003 Protege for similar money though... but with 43000km on it, it's still a great deal!!

She might have got a newer one, but this one is very clean, has records, and a Mazda extended bumper-to-bumper warranty up to 72 months and 120K.  The in-service date was October 2001, so it's got more warranty than a 2002 any more than many 2003's.

A good choice by your friend, John. Hope it works out for her or we'll all be in trouble here.

I see you know about new GM cars now Snack, you have absolutely no experience with them again do you, or is this something you heard? Back Up your statement if you can.

Hello, my name is Barrie and I think the Cavalier and Sunfire are good cars! (...Which is why they need to rename them to Cobalt and Pursuit in the hopes that (stupid) people won't notice its the same freaking car that will have the same problems...)

You are be the 1st one for me to tell to FACK OFF. Instead of trolling continuilly trying to anger people here maybe you should learn something about the car trade before you make too big statements such as your last posting. If you are so smart then why have you done nothing but Whine about your own new car. Its Funny how bigger Men then you have no problem enjoying your brand of car. 6'3" and 225 Lbs. is Not very big at all.

Its Funny how the worst rated car was the one you bought. The cars I mentioned were no-where near on the list. Thats the Truth and everybody knows it. You should change your name to the Whiner as it seems thats all you do. Have a Nice Day.

Whatever... he'll always have his head in sand as far as I'm concerned.
