How does one remove the front seat headrest from a 1995 VW Jetta.

Look at the openings in the seat where the stalks emerge after pulling the headrest as high as possible.  You will/should be able to see a sort of button/release built into the plastic insert that holds the stalk, press and keep pulling/wiggling and it should release.

I miss my motorcycle!

Aside from dressing the seat with a cover and punching two holes for the headrest stalks, why would you want to remove it? Curious.

I'm trying to ship this seat. The headrest makes the height of the seat just outside the approved packing dimension.  As is...it cost $107 to ship....remove the headrest....$30.  See my dilema?
'Ericthejet'  The front seats do not have the little button as do the back seats.  The front seats have a narrow slot on either side of the trip where the post goes into the seat.  Any other thoughts?

Hey Skinner9,

Well.... try raising them as high as possible and pulling inward as you lift up, or outward again while lifting upwards.  The base of each stalk may have a notch that keeps them from lifting out beyond an acceptable limit.  I would think that there must be some sort of trick to this situation.  Maybe you need to cuss in German to get them out.  Ha :-)  Is that slot big enough to fit a flathead screwdiver, maybe to release a tab or sumpthing?

Why not ask a dealer? Or don't you trust them to give you the right answer?
