The Toyo Open Country G-02+ 215/75R16 (OD = 28.7"; 2.39% larger) has a load/speed rating of 103Q. Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 235/65R16 has a load/speed rating of 103Q too. It appears that most if not all the 225/70R16 tires have a load rating of 101 or 102.

Load Index Pounds Kilograms
101     1819     825
102     1874     850
103     1929     875

From Tirerack.com:

"A tire with a higher load index than that of the Original Equipment tire indicates an increase in load capacity. A tire with a load index equal to that of the Original Equipment tire indicates an equivalent load capacity. A tire with a lower load index than the Original Equipment tire indicates the tire does not equal the load capacity of the original."

Hi Bails the $65.00 is not aftermarket.
It is OEM from Honda, from the dealer.
You're right the 92 is MSRP but my dealer would come down to $77 however when I told them about the other dealers in adjacent cities selling for $65 he matched it.
I wouldn't buy aftermarket strictly because of the vehicle weight.
Dalts Honda in Orillia and Blue Mountain Honda in Collingwood are selling the rims for the $65 price.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Hi Grumbo - thanks for that further info.

I ordered OEM wheels from my local dealer yesterday at $75 each and I'm okay with that for peace of mind on the load issue and also to get this process of getting wheels done with!

I'm still working on tires....meanwhile my wife is driving the new Ody every day and enjoying it immensely.

Just so you don't find out the hard way like I did today.
The lug nuts from your alloy wheels will NOT fit the Honda steel rims. You need the longer nuts and chances are you dealer will NOT have them in stock and will have to order them in.
I got my rims, took the van, rims over to Costco where I'd ordered the new tires. Got a call an hour later. Uh we have your tires installed and balanced, your regular tires off but the lug nuts are too short. )#$#)(@)@#!
I called the dealer. Uh geez we didn't realize. They had 9 lug nuts in stock. Thats a lot of help. They tried the Acura dealer for MDX lug nuts and I tried another dealer. No one has them. Anyway put old rims on and have to wait til the lug nuts come in that they ordered.
Just so you know :-)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I ordered set of steel rims and tires from TT and I used original lug nuts on my 2000 Ody. It's been 3 weeks and no problem. By the way: lug nuts that came with that order are longer than factory ones. And they are free.

I have put 225/70/16 Michelin Latitude X-Ice's on and have now noticed if I go around a corner quickly it almost sounds like a rubbing noise from the rear wheel wells. I looked and looks like a tight fit, but installed at the dealership and no comments there.
Only started when the snows went on. This is very disconcerting now. Purchased at Costco and this is the size suggested.

I got my 'Ody last week and installed a set of Blizzak WS-50 on OEM steel wheels, got the package from Tirerack.  They shipped some flimsy black open ended lug nuts with the package so I tried the alloy lug nuts, they fit perfectly.  They are long enough; you can screw them all the way in to make contact with the hub, they have the proper rounded edge, the only thing is the steel washer being loose but they don't make any noise.  So far I like the Blizzaks, they are very good on snow, they do "sing" a little on wet pavement and are much better than I expected on dry roads after reading many bad (dry) reviews.  The van is very quiet and the added tire noise is hardly noticeable.
