I had a 2000 Jetta 5sp TDI until it ran out of warranty. I put over 100,000km on it.
Personally, here in Canada I cannot justify having a TDI unless you drive 40,000km/year or something insane.
A/ You pay a premium for a VW Diesel
B/ Gas is cheap here
C/ I GOT SICK AND TIRED OF replacing the O2 Sensor on my Jetta every month. Build quality on Mexican VW is awful. I averaged 5.5L/100km.
You can get a Corrola 5spd, Civic ect and average 7-8L/100km. I really can't justify all that extra money to save 2.5L/100km.
My VW dealer was charging me an INSANE $105 for oil changes.
At the Acura dealership its $44 for my EL.
For people who drive 40,000km/year thought they be stupid not to get a TDI. Plus the resale value on TDIs in insane!
