2003 Chevy Avalanche Z71 value?

Any way to get the redbook value on a 2003 Chevy Avalanche?

I'm not sure what info the Redbook takes into consideration but here's the specifics...

25,600km
Z71 Offroad package
Grille Guard
Step bars
Sliding Sunroof
"Good" overall condition - couple of door dings and some stone chips up front and on the hood

Thanks!
Andrew

What's a Redbook?

The publication used almost universally by dealers in Canada is the Canadian Black Book.

You can access it yourself through www.Toyota.ca and selecting Vehicles then selecting Appraise Your Trade-in.

Keep in mind that these are WHOLESALE values. That is, the value that a dealer would pay prior to any reconditioning so that they can then resell the car at a RETAIL price. If you are selling a car to a reseller, then they are going to pay you a wholesale price. If you are selling the car to an end-user (say, through a newspaper classified ad) then they are going to pay a retail price.

The redbook was what the good ol' Jean and the Canadian government came up with a couple years back.

This red book...
http://www.canadianredbook.com/rbbackup2.html

I'm not planning on trading in my truck.  I'm a Canadian citizen returning to Canada from the US where I've been for the past five years.  I need to know what the Red book value is on my vehicle to figure out if I should attempt to obtain a written appraisal from a local dealership prior to heading for the border.  The Registrar Imported Vehicles and Canada Customs have been less than responsive this week to my inquiries on the matter.

I'm looking at getting hit for thousands of dollars in customs duty/taxation so I'm trying to gauge which direction would be more cost effective.

$29700 is black book, I'd expect to add 15% for fairmarket value.

Andrew - as a former owner of an Avalanche as well and having mine built in Mexico - I'm curious, did yours come from there too?

When they first came out the US supply was coming from Texas and then that plant was being switched over and used to build Escalades.

Your serial number will tell you - if it starts with a '3' it came from Mexico - 1 or 4 is USA.

Inco - I think 1 is US and 4 is Canada but I could be wrong. I know our Solara is made in Canada and it's a 1. The Bullitt is a 4, correct of Dearborn. The RAV is a J, correct of Japan. Did a check on Camry's (for another post on here) on local Toyota shop lot recently and there was a mix of 1s for the US-built ones and Js for the Japanese built ones. I've never seen the 3 VIN, but that makes sense to be Mexico. Just curious.

1 is USA and now so is 4. 2 is Canada and 3 is Mexico.

Ovr we went through this before. Your car was made in the USA if it starts with a 1. Honest - enter you VIN and see.

Ya, Inco, you are correct and my post above was all facked up by me. What I meant to say was 2 is Canada and the Solara is a 2; 1 in US and the Bullitt is a 1. But I said the reverse and switched the 2 to a 4 - sorry for the confusion. The only thing I was right on was J is Japan and the RAV is a J.
