A link to average prices paid for cars in the US:

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/biztech/auto/articles/carprices_4.htm

I was able to get about 7% off on a 2005 FX35 with tech. Not bad...

The Crossfire is 1% over invoice?.....WFT!....this has to be a typo. This would make it the only car with a higher than zero rating. Perhaps this is the selling price average vs. the new discounted amount.

Sunfire at -29%!  I read an article about 5 years ago stating GM lost $1000USD on every Cavalier/Sunfire/Sunbird sold

I don't think they are in Business to loose Money. Yes they may be discounting them by 29% but I suspect their profit margin is a lot higher then that on these cars. The more you build the cheaper it gets. They are still making good profit on them.

If I remember correctly a lot had to do with unbreakable union contracts and similiar overhead.  Keep in mind this was before the move to Mexico - the bleeding of red ink was probably an impedous for this move south.  I can't imagine they're making much money for cars that are being sold for under $12K with "ring in and win", 2500 litre gas discount, GM credit card points, $1000 grad rebate, etc., 0% financing  Not much left here...
