Latest offer on Civic 2005
« on: October 22, 2004, 03:16:17 pm »
I went to a Honda dealer and dealed quite a bit and came up with this:

Black Honda Civic 2005 SE Sedan
Automatic
SE specifications http://www.honda.ca/Honda/Models/CivicSedan/2005/Specifications.asp?L=E

Options:

Rear Spoiler
Block Heater
Floor Mats

All for 18 900 +Tax

(If you do the Build your own car on Honda.ca it's
20,297.10 + Tax)

What do you guys think? Should I go for it?

Thanks guys!

One last question: Should I get the Keyless Remote Entry with Panic Alarm Feature or the ECU Immobilizer and the club is enough? ;)

I would try for a bit more, but that's just me, and I don't know what you started the negotiation process off at.

$1,397 is a healthy discount, considering it's in the low/compact car segment. There's really not a lot to dicker off. The SE may have very slightly lower gross because of the additional equipment included.

After the slow start in the 1st quarter of the year (down -25% for awhile), Honda has worked at getting the Civic moving and has been darned successful at it, selling the most units in a month it ever has. I'm thinking there's some sort of manufacturer-to-dealer spiff or something. Even so, that's a nice price, and if the dealer's being fair and upfront and is likeable, sounds good to me :-)

I think Civics used to be stolen more than they are now. Immmobilizers are reasonably effective against vehicle theft (obviously pros will get your car no matter) whereas the alarm system would deter burglars. If you have a garage, I wouldn't bother with the alarm, but it depends what the cost is to gain that and the remote key fob and if insurance gives any discounts.

Thanks for your answer Siraquaman64. I'll try to put the Alarm in the deal but it's not gonna be easy. No big deal.

And yes Gman it's included.

That's a very good deal.

What kind of financing are they offering?  Still 2.8% or is that history?

I said I would pay cash. I can ask the dealer and give you an answer next week.

I don't think the Dealer cares if you pay cash or go with Honda Credit which are very reasonable about who they take on.  They took me.

They will finance the PST and the GST.  Even at 3.8% with no down you are looking at under $400. per month.  That is pretty good considering the gas saving on a Civic and the lack of repairs.  The term is 60 mths.
