Car donation in Canada
« on: October 06, 2004, 02:20:52 pm »
I have a  1991 Toyota Camry, 198,000 km, 4WD,
engine and xmissions are in good condition,
dives good except;
leaking muffler, broken handbrake cable,
If I sell it I have to fix these problems to
get the certificate and pass, the problems I
don't have time, I don't want ripping off
by the garage, I'd like to donate it so that
I can get tax deductible, any advise are wellcome.

Though donating the car is more 'noble', why not just sell it 'as is'?

Where are you in Canada Dickx? I'm looking for something exactly like you have for ice racing this winter. While I'n not a charitable arganisation, if you are close to Ottawa and we can come to some agreement, I can give you something for it. More than what a receipt would get you back.

If you are going to sell it by repair it then the maintenance is really a high cost and there is no any guaranty of the satisfaction of previous good condition of your car. It's better to donate it to any charity program to help someone who really needs it.

Stephen.

When donating a car, generally they are auctioned off to junkers/wholesalers, so you get a donation recp't for $50-300. Basically you get market value at best, as a donated amount. That's your choice.

Best bet for your pocket, is as suggest to sell it as is

Generally it is really a bit tough to make any donation but still there some of us, who are capable enough for any donation such as cash donation, car donation and many more things. If you are one of them who are looking to donate your car then look for most reliable resource such as Car Donation.This is the website where you can make your car donation for the welfare of unprivileged children who are not capable enough to make their own future. Car Donation has stepped ahead and giving their precious contribution to help those children. If you want more information on their activities and profile and car donation programs then take a look at Car Donation.

If you are still making payments on the car, then the finance company holds the title until it has been paid in full.
