"(Chip Ganassi's sponsor) isn't dissatisfied with the IRL, it's dissatisfied with the powers-to-be in open-wheel racing."

Pffff....I'm sure Target played NO part in perpetuating this split by pressuring Ganassi to run in IRL so they could run their rolling billboard at Indy.

DSW, pretty crazy days in the racing world.  The IRL has been in the corner taking blow after blow all year.

GM officially out after this year, Toyota officially out after '06 (rampant speculation they'll pack it in after this year)

Engine and chassis specs for '07 were supposed to be released around Indy, still no word, and no schedule yet.  Races already dropped for next year (phoenix) grumblings from teams and sponsors, Meanwhile CC grows stronger.

Big blow for our side may come this week, as it looks like the next Champ Car race is cancelled.

The 2007 specs were released today

www.champcar.ws

165 pounds lighter, shorter, narrower track, more HP, more undertray aero instead of wing aero, onboard starters, and built by Elan/Panoz.  Panoz of ALMS fame, and crapwagon supplier.

Some beatching about the high F1 type nose, but otherwise easily recognizable as a Champcar.

The champ cars might be faster than the F1 cars next year, with F1 going to V8's

With the new lower pricing it can't hurt and that will hopefully attract more people into the series. Somebody has been doing their homework!

Wow, is the street course ever junk at the Honda Indy Toronto this year. The venue needs a complete rebuild.

Wow, is the street course ever junk at the Honda Indy Toronto this year. The venue needs a complete rebuild.
It also needs drivers that have been trained to miss each other.
First time I've watched the race for some years.  Watched the British Grand Prix this morning. Those Indy cars sound bad and don't seem very fast either.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I was watching the race and comments from drivers before the race after the crash were not positive. Racing equally prepared open wheel cars on high banks with a field of 34 cars is a recipe for disaster.
