In general.
First I planned to buy 1-2 year Hyindai ELANTRA -
$13000 - $14000 CAD. But now one guy told me
that Hyindai doesn not manufacture AC and
delaers install it and he changed it 3 times
for his 2 year ELANTRA.
If it's true then maybe I should look at HONDA CIVIC. Honda should be more reliable.

My point is if there is 2-3 thousand difference
in price but HONDA is much more reliable then I'd rather buy HONDA.

Riga, hyundai factory installed the AC on the VE and GT models, it was the GL model that it was dealer installed on. If you are looking at a VE you should have no worrys.
2005 MY AC is a factory installed option on GL's.

Sorry for not being clear.

In 2003 there were 3 model lines for Elantra

Gl

VE

GT

The GL was the stripper, 2.0, CD, two keys and an ashtray

VE added PW, PL, PM, Cruise, and AC.

The GT was the 5 door, and came loaded, with options for Sunroof, Leather, ABS and TC. GT model came with different suspension settings, and 4 wheel disc brakes, alloy wheels, upgraded guages (purple, included trip computer for mileage, distance to empty etc)

So, If your friend's friend had a dealer install the AC, it had to be a GL model. The VE and GT models it came that way from the factory. If the '03 model you are looking at is a VE, don't worry about the AC, it was a factory, not a dealer installed item.
