In Ontario we have two different Books. One is the Black Book for evaluating Cars and Trucks for Resle, and the other is the Red Book for evaulating the Value for Tax purposes. Your Bank or Credit Union will have a copy of each or even a friend at a Dealership will have them as well.

The milage and overall condition is needed as well as it also counts in the pricing of the vehicle.   Rough,Clean, extra Clean with all the options listed as well. They all count.

That helps Neil a lot as it is a nice looking truck as well. Knowing all the options and Condition put it into a certain Category that only helps your pocket.

This truck isn't in the black book, WAYYYYY too old. On a trade-in it won't be worth much.  My guess would be $300-$500.  It is a 14 year old, 2wd truck with over 200k. IMO this is a truck you sell privately, it will find a home.  I would imagine $1750-$2500 is the retail number + tires.

Well, this is a truck that if both tanks are full it will double the value.

Bodin, avg book (I assume with no pwr windows it is an XL) is $1600.00, clean is $2500, which is likely no more than a dealer will pay for it.

Vehicles of this vintage are very hard to finance, and on a lot this unit would ceiling around $5000.  If you are in "truck country", farming community, oil patch, forestry, you might expect prices to be slightly firmer.

WOW!  $1600 avg. book!  Not in Ontario!  I love the West where all beaters are coated in gold

O yes in Ontario as Used Trucks still hold their value quite well. I can see someone asking up to $2800. here in my area and selling it for around 23 to 2500. from a Private buyer. This truck appears to be in very good shape and will command a better Dollar here.

EAX, hehe sorry, I guess I should state that models older than 1996 are in the "Grey" book (same publisher)which goes back to 1991.

The dealership offered me $2500 on a trade in... I imagine that it is worth more because about 3 years ago I got an offer for $5800. I was thinking around $4000 but then again it's not a 4x4. I find it surprising that blackbook would be around $2000.

Thanks for the info

ahhh, but is it pure trade-in or trade and discount...$2500 in my opinion is what the retail transaction price for that truck in BC or Ontario would be, it's all the money either way.

Yup, tell them you decided not to buy a new one but will still take the $2500 for yours. Then you'll really find out what it's worth to that dealer.

There is access to the Canadian Black Book via the Toyota Canada website at www.toyota.ca .  Go to Vehicles, then Appraise Your Trade-In and it brings you into the Black Book site.  Go crazy on Toyota's tab.

A 2000 Camaro Z28 Coupe with 35k on the clock and no options (Sport Package, Hatch Roof, Leather, SS Package, Power Windows) is Clean high value of $15.6k.
