Wondered if anyone has any experience/insight in to this car I have just purchased. I do know the ABS system can be a nightmare if problems arise, the metric tires are a pain, but aside from the normal exhorbitant cost of BMW dealer parts I don't know much about what to look out for on these cars.

If you haven't been there yet, check out these guys:

If they can't give you answers on stuff, I don't know who can!

This one looks decent too:

Join the BMWCCA in the USA.  Special interest group on 6-series would probably pay for the subscription in seconds

Also: my Dentist swears by Bavarian Motors on Woodbine west side north of John for service. Further north on Woodbine west side above 7 there is another small BMW specialist where I am sure I have seen an early 6 series.
Caveat: Have not used either myself ( still in warranty)

Jeff1- can you identify those rims/size on that black car in the photo?  They look like they might be BMW, maybe from a newer car...?

BMW put mesh 16"s on the late 90's 5 series.  That could be it?

They look like the 3-piece aluminum "deep-dish" 17s from my dad's old '98 540i sport.

Beautiful wheels...a pain in the a$$ to detail (but very worth it! )

Dave, those would be the wheels I'm thinking of.  Beautiful and definitely lots of fun to clean.

Pablofan, the pics I posted are just the thumbnail images from the link I posted above ( www.bigcoupe.com ).  When I looked at the bigger images I could see that of the two cars facing to the right, they are BBS wheels, though I'm not sure which model.  On the car facing to the left, I think Dave's right -- they look just like the wheels used on the sport-pkg-equipped E39 540's.
