Buick Rendezvous
« on: July 11, 2004, 04:35:01 pm »
I purchased my 3rd. new GM vechicle a 2002 Buick Rendezvous and had never had this many problems with a car before. To date, I have had to replace the right front wheel bearings, the thermostat, the Intake Manifold Gasket, the lights on the audio system and the temperature control, turning signal lights come on randomly and still do,replace several bulbs as brakes and turning signals lights have gone out,AC went and compressor had to be replaced. The bill from the dealer for the last repair was $1800.00.
This will be my last GM vehilce as it would appear as if the quality of their parts have gone down significantly over the years.
I would like to hear from other Rendezvous owners. I spoke to one other that I met at the dealer and he had to replace front wheel bearings at 7000 km.

Barrie will be right along to buoy up your flagging GM spirits with a good, "GM is Good" pep talk. Just wait for it, it's coming.

Hey Ovr 50 did you build that Car? I didn't either, take a hint on the shots as I can throw them back pretty good also. At least a good pep talk is better then what you have just said to the new Forum Member. Yes I do like GM cars and trucks a lot better then anything else on the market place. Why is there a Bill on this car as its only a 2 year old car, What is the milage as if its still covered by warranty then why are you paying. GM does not make the bulbs or the bearings as they are created by outside suppliers. You should be talking to the dealer regarding the problems with this vehicle. Sounds like a Monday or Friday build.

Barrie, Barrie, Barrie - you are wwwwaaayyy too sensitive about your beloved GM. How is what I said to the new poster so terrible; heck, man, I just told her the truth. You will come along and defend GM which is exactly what you did. You love your GM, that's cool; but the facts don't always support your position. I think that I didn't offend the new poster; I offended you but then I know you can handle yourself so I'm not going to worry about it. Watch out for those Monday and Friday builds, they'll get you every time.

The lines run 6 days a week with same worker.  I would avoid Saturday builds.

What people in the car business have told me about GM's:

The V8's are great and if you have to buy a V6, the 3.8 will give you Toyota-like reliability and the 4.3 is not bad either. Avoid everything else.

All this talk about avoiding which day a car was built.  Does the serial number tell you which day, hour, minute the car was built?  Most serial numbers will tell you the month....but I didn't know the day was on there too.

GM 350 has been the small block king.  The 3.8 was rock solid before they decided to go with a sealant for the head gasket instead of a real gasket.  Don't know if they changed that back yet.  I don't hear to many bad things about the 4.3, but that motor is pretty well over.

I wouldn't buy any motor from GM other than the 350 (5.7).  Their other motors are like Briggs and Stratton to Honda small motors.  Need I say more.

The actual serial no will tell you what day and shift the car was built but not the exact hour or minute it was assembled but within 8 to 10 hours or so. They always have had this feature built into the Serial No.s and probably will keep this habit going. Ovr50 there are still some unanswered questions here from this owner that makes me wonder on their validity with their complaint. Something does not add up on this one.

Yes, the original poster should get back and respond.  The complaint was lacking detail.  Still an absolutely horrendous vehicle.

In the eye of the beholder articsteve...

I didn't know about the actual day on the serial #. Learn something new everyday.

Mabaker has definitely left something out here and may the cause of the problems themselves. Blameing the car is easy to do but tell us the rest of the story is dosen't seem like the thing they want to do.

Wether the vehicle is under warranty or not is irrelevant. The point is, these types of repairs should not be necessary on a new vehicle. I do drive my vehicle a lot, mostly hwy. All the problems started after the vehicle exceeded 60,000 km. It is at the dealer every 5-6000 km.
Barrie, Maybe you should tell me what I left out.

The reason people asked you if it was under warranty was to determine whether you were incorrectly billed for repairs by the dealership.  If it were warrantable, the dealership should have billed GM and not you.  Your choice if want help/advice in that department!

Mabaker you left us hanging without all the info yet ask for our advice. The Milage does matter here we were beleiving you had to pay for all of this, we would be upset also. These things do seem to be happening rather premature so Yes we are surprised.

Luckly for me, I had purchased extended warranty ( not GM's)There is a deductable of $100 each time repairs are done to the vechicle.
The reason I posted this message was to find out if there were other Rendzveous owners out there experiencing the same problems or as you guys put it " my car was built on a Friday/Saturday". I have heard from one Rendzveous owner who is actually talking to a lawyer due to all the problems with his 2002.
Mdxtasy, I suggest that you find a more appropriate way of expressing yourself. If you meant to ask if I drive my car a lot. I  clearly stated that in my last post.
Barrie, thank you. All I wanted was for someone to acknowledge that these repairs are premature.
