2000 grand am...is it a lemon???
« on: June 29, 2004, 06:13:20 pm »
I would be interested in hearing if others have had massive repair problems with this model.  We are currently in dispute with GM over bills totaling over $3500 on brakes (including warped roters) over the past 6 months.  We have also had extensive work done under warrenty (new transmission at 80KM!!! instrument cluster...) Is there a site that would have statistical data on the lack of reliability of the 2000 Grand Am?

Irate welcome to the forum and sorry to hear of your problems. Yes the front rotors are known for problems on this model. Buy the aftermarket rotors and it will solve a lot of the problems. As far as the auto tranny goes they were usually fairly reliable if they were maintained correctly with proper service intervals and filters. That seem a little low for milage tho. Someone will be along before very long to give you more info on this car.

Go to the www.complaintstation.com  At least I think that is the address.  Try www.google.com for other sites because you are not alone.

If it's not too painful, how exactly did you spend $3500. on brakes in six months?  No dealer warranty with brake work?
