Perhaps my tester is a little on the pricey side, and the fact that Jeep does not offer the Diesel in a base model is a little unfortunate. But I can tell you this, if this vehicle was equipped as-is for $50,000 as many wish it was — Jeep wouldn’t be able to build them fast enough — I know I would have one in my driveway.

My tester is fully equipped and it shows, when you first step into the vehicle you notice the leather seating, stitched dash and large UConnect control centre. The UConnect system is arguably [No, there is no argument. It absolutely is -Ed.] the best infotainment system on the market today — it responds incredibly quick, is super easy to use and well laid out.

My tester is equipped with ventilated seats and I mention them specifically because they are by far the best and fastest acting ventilated seats I have ever had the pleasure of using. I can only imagine they are worth their weight in gold after a hot day of whatever it is you were doing… maybe shopping? For me it would be a hot day at the race track, and the seats are effective even with jeans on.

Rear seat and legroom is really good, as is the large moonroof that gives you some open-air views even from the back seat. Because this is a mid-sized SUV that is only a five-seater, this leaves a good compromise of seat and cargo space compared to those that try to jam in seven seats or smaller body styles.

Where I spend all of my time (the driver’s seat) the Jeep Grand Cherokee feels premium with leather trim bits all around, luxury like wood trim on the dash and steering wheel and lots of gadgets, buttons and features like automatic cruise control and blind spot detection.
