This week is a little odd – it’s so odd in fact that when I arrived at the Toyota dealer to pick up my tester they asked me why I was testing the 2013 Toyota Corolla. My answer? I don’t know, next week they are unveiling the 2014 model in Ottawa so to me it does seem a little odd – but as they say, I takes what I can gets….

So here she is, the 2013 Toyota Corolla, an LE model (with premium package) in exciting silver with an exciting grey interior – that at least I can say photographs better and easier than the all-black interiors of most cars. And check out that wood trim on the dash! This is a luxury edition after all.

Surfing over to toyota.ca it looks like there is a cash incentive currently on the 2013 Corolla that ranges from $2,000 to $2,500 depending on which model and trim you chose. My tester, the LE with Premium package has a $2,500 rebate bringing the cash price to just over $22,000.

It certainly will be interesting to see how many people are still interested in reading about a car that is a little on the dated side. This version of the Corolla was introduced as a 2009 model back in 2008. Of course there have been minor refreshes along the way to attempt to keep up with technology and changes in the market.

My tester, for example, is equipped with a USB connector, navigation and has push-button start; features that were forward thinking in 2009 but are becoming commonplace in 2013. I’ll reserve final judgement until I get some time behind the wheel; despite this vehicle being an older design I have a feeling it still performs well.

MSRP as tested (including destination): $24,765
