GS F will be powered by 467 hp 5.0L naturally-aspirated V8 with eight-speed automatic

Lexus has let the cat out of the bag a week before the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Japanese luxury brand has given us preliminary details and photos of the next model in their “F” lineup — the GS F.

The new GS F will be powered by a 5.0L naturally-aspirated V8 engine producing 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque. Output will be sent to the rear wheels by way of an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The engine will also incorporate “the Atkinson-cycle under [certain] driving conditions” states the release from Lexus.

Besides the powerplant, the GS F will also benefit from the RC F’s torque vectoring differential with three different operating modes — Standard, Slalom, and Track.

While a big engine and track prowess are promised by Lexus, the manufacturer also says the GS F will be a “very balanced sedan with genuine dual personality, equally adept at trimming lap times and the commute back home.”

The future Lexus GS F will compete with the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG, and Cadillac CTS-V.

We will have full details on the GS F next week from Detroit.
