“More than 12” new performance models to debut by 2020

It’s finally coming here. The Ford Focus RS will be arriving on North American shores for the first time and takes the top spot in the Focus lineup above the Focus ST. The new, very hot Focus will be one of 12 new performance models from Ford by 2020.

Ford is cranking the horsepower knob up to 11 (or maybe 12 in this case) as they merge their regional performance engineering and racing teams under one roof. The new Ford Performance group will be responsible for all new performance models going forward.

“Ford remains committed to innovation through performance,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development.

“Our new global Ford Performance team ties together racing, performance vehicles and parts. It will allow us to more quickly introduce products and accessories that meet the needs of customers around the world on-road and on the track.”

The Focus RS will be the next performance vehicle to come from the Blue Oval, expected to debut at the North American International Auto Show next month. Other models, like a more hardcore GT350R, SVT Raptor, and Ford GT supercar are also rumoured to join the Focus RS on the show stand.
