After axing the X-Runner from the US market, the sport truck evades all draft possibilities by coming to Canada
Those looking for a 7/8-passenger hybrid CUV will get the chance soon as Toyota has priced the new Highlander Hybrid with a starting MSRP of $43,720 for LE models. XLE mid-trim models will start at $46,145, representing a price reduction of $3,500. Limited models start at $52,695.
Powering the Highlander Hybrid is a 3.5-litre V6 engine working together with Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive.
However, the really good news is the X-Runner – the sporty and lowered version of the Tacoma – will be coming to Canada after being axed from the US market for 2014.
The truck will be powered exclusively by a 4.0-litre V6 producing 236 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. Oh, and a six-speed manual will be available as well.
Tacoma X-Runner will be available in Access Cab configuration only with a six-foot bed for hauling your toys.
Pricing will be available closer to launch

You’ll discover how you can hit the open road in comfort and style, and do it while lending a helping hand to the environment – and your pocket book.
Toyota set out to bring unprecedented innovation to the vehicle, making it more powerful, more attractive on the outside, better equipped on the inside, and filled with advanced technology, and a lower price.
Now available in three grades – LE, XLE and Limited – the Highlander Hybrid boasts three-row seating for seven or eight passengers and increased cargo capacity. It also offers a selection of attractive 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels, and flush-mounted roof rails are available for improved aerodynamics.

Also at this year’s show, the all-new 2014 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner will be making its Canadian debut.
Drivers who choose the X-Runner can expect to stand out from the crowd, with performance, capability, features, and comfort. The vehicle will be available at Toyota dealerships in March.
The X-Runner is engineered with a passion for performance, with a 4.0 L V6 delivering up to 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. That’s coupled to a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox with overdrive. This combination means great hands-on performance and a combined city/highway fuel efficiency of 11.4 L per 100 km.
The design delivers seating for four in distinctive style, including front sport seats clad in water-repellant fabric and the versatility of rear seats that quickly fold away for additional, covered cargo space. The X-Runner Access Cab features a sliding rear window, privacy glass, and a generous complement of premium convenience and style features.
CIAS visitors can see the new 2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid (and the Highlander), as well as the Tacoma X-Runner, in the Toyota display area, which is located on the 800 Level of the South Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC). The auto show runs February 14-23.
