Entry Cayenne to start at $67,400 while new GTS model drops its V8
Porsche Canada has released detailed information on two new Cayenne models on the run up to the Los Angeles Auto Show in less than two weeks.
The Cayenne will finally be available as a base non-S model starting next year with a base price of $67,400. It will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 3.6-litre V6 engine producing 300 hp, good for a 0-100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds and a 9.2L/100km fuel economy rating (NEDC) thanks to auto stop/start.
But, the big news is the new GTS model, ditching the much-loved V8 engine for a twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6 powerplant.
The new engine touts 20 hp and 63 lb-ft of torque more than the outgoing naturally-aspirated V8 — for a total of 440 hp and 443 lb-ft — while improving fuel economy by almost a full litre per 100km. But, the visceral experience of a V8 pumping away under the hood is now gone.
If you desire one of these brightly-coloured family-hauling power monsters, be prepared to pay the price of entry. The GTS will get a base price of $108,200 when both models go on sale at the end of February.
